Qualifications

• High School diploma required; some college desirable.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy training preferred; on-the-job or equivalent training in admitting/registration procedures.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to type and knowledge of clerical systems, medical terminology and computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify and process all specimens, verify requisition and test data.
• Perform clerical duties including phone support, file maintenance and report distribution; provide test information to staff.
• Run programs for LIS and HIS; troubleshoot problems.
• Coordinate specimen pickup for outpatient areas and ensure timely receipt.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures including venipuncture, finger and heel-stick.
