Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is a 170-bed acute care hospital offering urgent care, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, level II NICU, and surgical services. This Lab Assistant role is full time with full benefits and a flexible schedule.

The position requires venipuncture and skin puncture duties with knowledge of test requirements and involvement in the clinical laboratory, including blood draws, cultures, and capillary samples.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• State Laboratory Assistant licensure required
• Current BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Draws blood competently, consistently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
• Records phlebotomy requisitions on log.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Labels and records all test tubes, logs procedures and files paperwork.
• Completes duties in a time efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders, ASAP orders, scheduled orders and outpatients.
