Qualifications

• License/Certification/Registries (valid for MS): National Phlebotomy Certification Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients prior to specimen collection or glucose testing; label and transport specimens.
• Follow procedures for collecting specimens and glucose testing; assist in care and communication.
• Demonstrate knowledge of pre-analytic variables and use information systems for specimens and tests.
• Select equipment, reagents and sample types for collection; handle difficult collections.
• Document specimen collection issues and results with corrective actions as needed.
• Perform 12-lead EKG tests and transmit results for immediate attention.
• Assist with inventory and other duties as trained.
