Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care is seeking a phlebotomist to collect blood samples, perform whole blood glucose testing, and 12-lead EKGs in a timely and accurate manner, with additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include correctly identifying patients, labeling and transporting specimens, following procedures for specimen collection, and documenting results and issues to support quality care and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Successful completion of Phlebotomy and 12-Lead EKG courses as scheduled.
• 6 months healthcare/medical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients prior to specimen collection to ensure accuracy.
• Label, transport and document specimens and glucose results.
• Perform phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG tests and related duties as assigned.
• Assist with inventory and ensure quality control as needed.
• Follow established procedures for specimen collection and handling.
