Job summary

Beloit Health System is looking to add Phlebotomists to our Laboratory Team. This role involves collecting blood and other laboratory specimens from patients of all ages while ensuring comfort, safety, and specimen integrity in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, patient identification, labeling, processing, transport, LIS data entry, and adherence to HIPAA and policies. 1st & 2nd shifts; 28–40 hours/week; Benefits Eligible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintained.
• Strong knowledge of specimen collection techniques and patient identification procedures.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to interact positively with coworkers, physicians, nursing staff, and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
• Accurately identify patients and verify specimen collection orders.
• Label, process, and transport specimens according to procedures.
• Ensure proper specimen handling and storage to maintain integrity.
• Explain procedures to patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Collect specimens in inpatient, outpatient, ED, and specialty settings as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and hospital policies.
• Enter patient and specimen data into laboratory information systems.
• Follow infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards at all times.
