Job summary

UNC Rockingham Health Care in Eden, NC seeks a phlebotomist to perform a range of blood collection procedures and point-of-care testing in support of clinical activities. You will consult with providers and patients about phlebotomy-related care while ensuring accuracy and quality in specimen handling.

The role requires at least one year of phlebotomy experience or graduation from a phlebotomy program. A flexible schedule and on-site duties are involved, with per diem employment through NC

Summary:

Performs a variety of phlebotomy procedures and/or patient point-of-care testing in support of the clinical activities in the Healthcare System.

Responsibilities:

• Consults/confers with healthcare providers/patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
• Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
• Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• May perform teaching and training of new employees, phlebotomy students and/or other healthcare providers.
• May review test results to ensure accuracy of reporting and timely correction of errors or report results to healthcare providers.
• Performs phlebotomy procedures, quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
• Responsible for and/or ensures completion of daily work and assigned tasks. Monitors daily operation of laboratory work area.
