Job summary

UNC Health Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC is seeking a phlebotomist to support weekend per diem shifts. You will perform phlebotomy procedures, ensure specimen integrity, and coordinate with healthcare teams for timely reporting.

Required is one year of phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy program; no state licensure is required. This role offers onsite work with a weekend schedule and competitive hourly pay.

Responsibilities

• Consults with healthcare providers and patients regarding phlebotomy service issues.
• Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
• Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• May teach and train new employees, phlebotomy students and/or other healthcare providers.
• Review test results for accuracy and timely correction of errors.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures, quality control and equipment maintenance in the lab.
• Monitor daily operation of laboratory work area and complete assigned tasks.

Summary:

Performs a variety of phlebotomy procedures and/or patient point-of-care testing in support of the clinical activities in the Healthcare System.

Schedule:

3a-7a every other Sat/Sun

Responsibilities:

• Consults/confers with healthcare providers/patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
• Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
• Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• May perform teaching and training of new employees, phlebotomy students and/or other healthcare providers.
• May review test results to ensure accuracy of reporting and timely correction of errors or report results to healthcare providers.
