Job summary

Interpath Laboratory is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist/Processor to support patients and the team with a collaborative spirit. The role requires performing venipuncture, handling multiple specimen types, and ensuring sample integrity in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of on-the-job phlebotomy experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring instrumentation alarms.
  • Perform venipuncture for blood collection and obtain additional specimen types as required.
  • Prepare samples for lab testing and screening.
  • Verify specimen information and perform accurate data entry.
  • Receive, process, and package samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Follow safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participate in QA.
  • Cover shifts at different sites as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Maintain consistent, punctual attendance to support the team and patients.

Job description

Pay

Pay: $18.98 - $25.69 Per Hour DOE

Schedule

Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5:30pm

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.
  • Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening.
  • Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
  • Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Compliance: Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance.
  • Flexibility: Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Reliability: Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.
Education & Certification

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of on-the-job phlebotomy experience

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
Physical Requirements
  • Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds.
  • High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.
  • Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.
  • Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.
OSHA Category

This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
