Job summary

Interpath Laboratory is seeking a Phlebotomist/Processor for our Swing Shift team in Boise. Newly certified phlebotomists are encouraged to apply; prior professional phlebotomy experience is preferred.

You will perform patient blood draws, assist with specimen pickups, and support our Treasure Valley Hospital partnership. Starting pay is $18/hour with experience-based flexibility, full-time schedule Monday–Friday 1:30pm–10:30pm, with benefits including medical/dental/vision, 401(k) match, PTO,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Newly certified phlebotomists encouraged; prior pro phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Excellent communication with pediatric patients and families.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and maintain specimen integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative duties: Provide excellent customer service to patients and families, answer phones, and monitor instrumentation alarms.
  • Technical: Perform venipuncture for blood collection, obtain additional specimen types as required, and prepare samples for lab testing and screening, focusing on pediatric patients.
  • Accurate data management: Verify specimen information, data entry, and proper patient identification.
  • Specimen handling: Receive, process, and package samples for referral labs maintaining integrity.
  • Compliance: Follow safety protocols, HIPAA, Medicare rules, and participate in QA activities.
  • Flexibility: Support clinic operations and assist with coverage to ensure smooth daily workflow.

Job description

Interpath Laboratory is looking for a Phlebotomist/Processor to join our Swing Shift team! Newly certified phlebotomists are encouraged to apply, although previous professional phlebotomy experience is preferred. In this role, you'll perform patient blood draws and assist with specimen pickups, including supporting our partnership with Treasure Valley Hospital. Pay:Starting at $18 per hour, with flexibility based on experience

Schedule:Full-time, Monday - Friday, 1:30pm - 10:30pm

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service to patients and families, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.
  • Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening, with a focus on pediatric patients.
  • Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
  • Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Compliance: Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance activities.
  • Flexibility: Supporting clinic operations and assisting with coverage as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day workflow.

Reliability: Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.

Education & Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:
  • Previous professional phlebotomy experience preferred; newly certified phlebotomists are encouraged to apply
Licensing
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (position requires assistance with STAT pickups)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with pediatric patients and their families
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities effectively

As a commitment to our clients and their requirements, all candidates for this position must meet the following immunization and health screening requirements before starting employment at the designated site:

  • Tuberculosis (TB) test, PPD (within the last 12 months)
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (TDAP) vaccination (within the last 10 years)
  • Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccination or immunity

*Proof of immunization or immunity will be requested upon hiring. If not presently immunized, but willing to receive, Interpath will cover the associated costs at their partner clinic.*

Physical Requirements
  • Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds.
  • High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.
  • Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.
  • Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.

OSHA Category: This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
