Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Completion of a Phlebotomy; Medical Laboratory; or Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy preferred.
• Familiar with medical terminology; computer data entry; organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy specimen collection including venipuncture, capillary collection, and other specimen types.
• Prepares specimens for referral to outside labs and manages the packaging, paperwork, and referrals.
• Operates the laboratory computer system to document specimen information, patient registration, orders, and collection lists.
• Maintains collection and work area in a neat and sanitary condition; restocks supplies as needed.
• Ensures specimen integrity and compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and privacy standards.
