Job summary

The Lab Assistant at Physicians Regional Healthcare System provides phlebotomy, specimen processing, and routine lab support to ensure efficient patient care. Responsibilities include handling and labeling specimens, maintaining equipment, performing LIS/EMR data entry, and supporting QC/QA efforts while upholding safety and HIPAA standards.

This PRN role requires 1-2 years in a lab or healthcare setting, HS diploma, and strong organizational and communication skills to collaborate with staff

Qualifications

• Completion of a phlebotomy program or equivalent training.
• 1-2 years experience in a lab/healthcare setting.
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with specimen processing and quality control procedures.
• HIPAA and safety compliance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assists with routine tests and uses proper lab protocols.
• Prepares and processes specimens with proper labeling and transport.
• Maintains and troubleshoots basic lab equipment.
• Performs finger sticks, venipunctures, and heel sticks per policy.
• Ensures safety controls and proper handling of biohazardous materials.
