Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NHA) is required.
  • At least 1 year of hospital-based phlebotomy experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of venipuncture and microcollection procedures.
  • Knowledge of CLSI guidelines, SOPs, and laboratory policies.
  • Ability to perform waived Point-of-Care (POC) testing.
  • Ability to collect urinalysis specimens.
  • Ability to document data in LIS.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter and maintain patient and specimen data in LIS.
  • Perform Point-of-Care (POC) testing per guidelines.
  • Serve as a Senior Phlebotomist when needed, providing guidance and support to peers.
  • Practice Universal and Standard Precautions 100% of the time.
  • Follow Joint Commission patient safety guidelines for 2-patient identification.
  • Communicate special instructions to patients.
  • Document specimen collection data into LIS.
  • Adhere to specimen handling and transport guidelines.
  • Communicate with clinical staff.
  • Participate in teaching and training new employees and students.
  • Perform waived POC testing and collect urinalysis specimens.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor supply par levels and restock supplies upon delivery.

Requirements
