Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare is seeking a Phlebotomist PRN to obtain and prepare specimens, perform screening tests, and collect venous and capillary blood samples. The role requires strict patient identification, safety practices, and professional collaboration with medical staff.

Under direct supervision, you will handle specimens, maintain PPE usage, and support the lab supervisor. This PRN position emphasizes accuracy and efficient multi-tasking in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Two to three years experience in a clinical/phlebotomy setting preferred.
• Certificate in Phlebotomy preferred or equivalent experience.
• BCLS certification required from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and prepare specimens for analysis and perform screening tests as indicated.
• Collect venous and capillary blood samples using techniques (syringe, heel stick, venipunctures, finger stick).
• Verify patient identification at bedside and follow safety precautions in handling specimens.
