Job Summary and Qualifications

Specific elements and essential functions include:

• Adhering to policies and procedures in specimen collection and processing.
• Performing a minimum of 40 venipunctures per 8-hour shift efficiently and proficiently.
• Handling all laboratory computer tasks related to processing and phlebotomy.
• Sharing workload across outpatient and reception areas.
• Prioritizing work to meet turnaround times.
• Understanding the contribution of phlebotomy to overall lab functions.
• Maintaining good communication, respecting patient confidentiality, and exhibiting excellent customer relations.
• Participating in QA, safety, emergency, and infection control plans.
• Following billing compliance guidelines and attending required training.
• Initiating and documenting patient teaching, providing age-appropriate care.
• Accepting on-call responsibilities as needed.

Experience: Preferred - phlebotomy training or experience. Processing experience is also preferred.

Certification: Preferred - ASCP/ASPT Certified.
