Qualifications

• BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
• Holds recognized national certification certificate (ASPT/ASCP) preferred.
• Precise hand-to-eye coordination and dexterity for specimen collection and equipment use.
• Ability to utilize more than one computer system to track and receive orders.
• Able to learn specimen requirements for over 2000 tests and proper collection timing.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collections and testing per lab policies.
• Data entry and workflow monitoring.
• Ensure patient safety and select appropriate equipment.
• Maintain chain of custody for forensic collections.
• Maintain HRP and pending log lists; organize workflow for efficiency.
• Answer phones, fax reports, maintain phlebotomy inventory, keep work area clean.
• May drive to offsite locations for specimen collections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
