Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is seeking a General Lab Women's Phlebotomist to collect clinical specimens, including blood via skin puncture and venipuncture, as well as urine samples and other specialty collections.

The role reports to the Assistant Director of Pathology and requires strong computer skills, good interpersonal communication, and the ability to work accurately under pressure in a clinical lab setting.

Qualifications

• Advanced computer skills required.
• Excellent communication with patients, families and staff.
• Able to read and interpret rate, ratio, percent and basic graphs.
• Strong mathematical/machine operation aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Uses mobile devices per policy and maintains equipment.
• Collects blood samples via skin puncture and venipuncture.
• Performs specialized collections (e.g., crossmatch, urine drug screen).
• Ensures patient identification with two identifiers.
• Maintains specimen integrity and proper labeling.
• Adheres to turnaround times for STAT and routine orders.
• Works with clerks for specimen intake and phone duties when available.
