Job summary

OSU-Center for Health Sciences seeks a phlebotomy technician to perform blood draws and specimen collection for laboratory testing. You will document collections and support daily lab operations in a patient-focused environment.

Responsibilities include venipunctures, sample labeling, and data entry, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and timely processing. Requires a HS diploma, 6 months phlebotomy experience, and a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience with children newborn to age 18.
• Phlebotomy Certification.
• Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
• Bilingual.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

About this Position

Performs venipunctures, arterial punctures, and capillary sampling to obtain blood samples for laboratory testing. Collects urine sample for analysis. Documents collection and processed specimens effectively. Supports the general operations of the Laboratory. Enters orders for testing and accessions specimens in the computer system.

Required Qualifications

• High School/GED

• 6 months related phlebotomy experience with children newborn to age 18.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

• Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

• Skill in delivery of patient care and procedures; phlebotomy, sample collection, and direct patient care.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy required.
• Ability to learn new processes, tools, and equipment as required.
