Job summary

Penn Medicine Doylestown Health is seeking a dedicated health professional to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will perform selected therapeutic interventions and diagnostic procedures within the Acute North unit.

You will support daily patient needs, assist with mobility, hygiene, nutrition, and the admission/discharge process, and maintain clear documentation while delivering compassionate, timely care.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care with age-specific accommodations under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Assists with activities of daily living including hygiene, nutrition, hydration, mobility and repositioning.
• Recognizes and reports abnormal observations and changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
• Responds to patient/family requests with excellent customer service and in critical situations (code, respiratory issues, falls, seizures).
• Utilizes computer for documentation, point-of-care results, data retrieval and communication with care team.
• Assists with admission, transfer and discharge processes; orients patient to room and routine.

Job Summary

Provides direct patient care and performs selected therapeutic interventions and diagnostic procedures under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Accountabilities

• 1. Provides safe and efficient direct patient care with consideration for age-specific accommodations.
• a. Provides/assists patients physically by providing physical support through pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, turning,

kneeling, standing, sitting and balancing, and psychologically by providing emotional intervention.

• Activities of daily living including hygiene
• Nutrition and hydration
• Comfort
• Mobility and repositioning
• Elimination
• Skin care
• Ambulation assistance
• b. Recognizes and reports abnormal observations and/or changes in the patient’s condition/progress to the Registered

Nurse in a timely manner.

• c. Responds to patient/family requests in a timely manner utilizing excellent customer service skills.
• d. Responds appropriately in a critical situation, i.e.: code, respiratory compromise, falls, seizures.
• e. Demonstrates appropriate skill in utilization of the computer for documentation, point of care results, data retrieval,

and communication, ensuring that no unapproved abbreviations are used.
