Job Description
- The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients, whether as part of their health routine or for insights into health decisions.
- The PSR II draws quality blood samples and prepares specimens for lab testing, following established practices and procedures.
- Creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence with patients, explaining procedures and drawing blood in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
- Demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
- Assignments may include doctor's offices, patient service centers, or other locations as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under supervision.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties confidently, following established practices.
- Verify patient demographic information, including signatures post-venipuncture, and ensure proper labeling.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment.
Job Requirements
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adherence to policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with short notice.
- Handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Superior customer focus and communication skills.
- Training locations may vary.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- Minimum three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Preferred two years in a Patient Service Center environment.
- Customer service experience in retail or service sectors is a plus.
- Keyboard/data entry skills.
