Job Description
- The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients, whether as part of their routine health checks or for critical health decisions.
- The PSR II draws high-quality blood samples, prepares specimens for lab testing, and follows established practices and procedures.
- Engages directly with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust, explaining procedures, and performing blood draws safely, accurately, and skillfully.
- Demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
- Assignments may include working in a doctor's office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and timely under supervision.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established protocols.
- Verify patient demographic information, including initials and signatures post-venipuncture, ensuring correct labeling and patient confirmation.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment to patients, clients, and colleagues.
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adherence to all policies, including dress code, safety, and company principles.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with short notice.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Strong customer focus, excellent communication, adaptability, and knowledge of our business.
- Training locations vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred, required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Experience in customer service within retail or service sectors is preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience.
