Job Description
- The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, either as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions.
- The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
- The PSR II has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens safely, accurately, and skillfully.
- The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
- Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and timely under the supervision of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and initials, including post-venipuncture signatures, ensuring proper labeling and identification.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment to patients, clients, and staff.
Job Requirements
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adherence to policies, procedures, dress code, and safety guidelines.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established protocols.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with short notice.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Strong customer focus, communication skills, adaptability, and knowledge of the business.
- Training location may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred, required in CA, NV, WA.
Work Experience
- At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Preferably two years in a Patient Service Center environment.
- Customer service experience in retail or service sectors preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
