South Texas Spine & Surgical Hospital in San Antonio, TX seeks a Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection, processing and results reporting under supervision. The role supports departmental improvements, adheres to CLIA/TDH standards, and upholds HIPAA while communicating with staff, patients and families across all ages.

Ideal candidates have phlebotomy training, high school diploma, and at least 100 blood draws; BLS certification within 30 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a laboratory phlebotomist training program preferred.
• High School Education or equivalent.
• Minimum of 100 blood draws, may be achieved through a clinical rotation.
• BLS required, or obtained within 30 days of hire date.
• Experience in performing routine tasks in the laboratory to include specimen collection, and specimen processing.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, with additional languages preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.
• Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for his/her own professional advancement and that of others.
• Must be computer literate with basic fundamental computer skills that are required to perform essential job related duties.

Responsabilités

• Posts specimen collection, processing, and results reporting under general supervision.
• Participates in departmental performance improvement and supply inventory processes.
• Follows CLIA, TDH and accreditation standards; adheres to hospital policies and HIPAA.
• Communicates effectively with peers, medical staff, patients, families and visitors; maintains inter- and intra-departmental relationships.
• Demonstrates leadership abilities when needed and supports patient care across ages.
