Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• BS/BA degree preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certificate if required by state.

Responsibilities

• Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log and addresses discrepancies.
• Verifies patient identity by reading patient identification.
• Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture and finger sticks.
• Maintains specimen integrity using aseptic technique and department procedures.
• Tracks collected specimens by dating and noting times of collection; maintains daily tallies.
