Job summary

Medical City Arlington is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy procedures, greet patients, and handle specimen collection and labeling for laboratory testing. You will transport, process, and perform clerical duties as needed to support testing of patient samples.

The role reports to Lead Phlebotomist, Lab Manager and Laboratory Director, and requires a commitment to accurate data entry and teamwork in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• HR diploma or GED required
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required or Certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience
• Acute care hospital experience is strongly preferred
• Skilled phlebotomy technique; BLS within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens from patients by finger sticks, heel sticks, or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
• Label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.
