SPG is seeking a skilled phlebotomist to serve as the sole specimen-collection professional at its Marinette, WI site. This part-time, on-site role offers a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement, ideal for an experienced professional who can work independently while maintaining patient care and specimen integrity.

You will perform venipuncture, process and label specimens, verify requisitions, and ensure proper packaging, temperature control, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years phlebotomy experience; able to work independently as sole phlebotomist on site.
• At least 6 months venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Minimum 1 year of overall healthcare/phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection (blood, urine, fecal) as required.
• Process, label, centrifuge, split and freeze specimens per test orders.
• Match requisitions to tubes and verify accuracy.
• Package and store specimens per temperature and transport protocols.
• Coordinate and manage specimen drop-offs with client.
• Explain procedures clearly to patients.
• Record data and maintain records; ensure OSHA/DEP compliance.
• Attend training and communicate results as needed.

Location: Marinette, WI | Schedule: Part-time, on-site (Tuesday & Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 24 hours per week)

What you'll do

• Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures, including blood, urine, and fecal samples
• Process, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions against scripts for accuracy
• Package and store specimens according to required temperature and transport protocols to maintain sample integrity
• Coordinate and manage specimen drop-offs for the client
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously to patients
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight and/or butterfly needles
• Understand and fully comply with physicians' orders
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures
• Update patient information and maintain accurate records
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and communicate laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
• Troubleshoot issues, assist in training, and make workflow recommendations

Required qualifications

• At least two years of phlebotomy experience, with the ability to work independently as the sole phlebotomist on site
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Minimum 1 year of experience
