Job summary

University Health Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Phlebotomist for the Laboratory to perform phlebotomy, order tests, schedule tests and assist in outpatient laboratory workflow.

This full-time position requires a high school diploma and strong clerical/computer skills, with the ability to interact with patients of all ages. Work includes equipment cleaning, records maintenance, and possible duties as Laboratory Information Processing Specialist.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clerical and office practices, computer troubleshooting.
• Good organizational abilities, time management and priority setting.
• Verbal communication skills to explain procedures.
• Knowledge of human development and ability to work with patients of all ages.
• Writing skills to maintain records.
• Ability to order tests and/or test results on a computer terminal.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy procedures, provides timely test ordering, schedules tests and conducts test procedures.
• Works with the Support Service Supervisor to facilitate workflow in Outpatient Laboratory area.
• Cleans laboratory equipment and assists in clerical duties such as answering phones and ordering supplies.
• May perform duties of Laboratory Information Processing Specialist (PCN 0106).
• Performs duties independently with little or no supervision.
