Job summary

Rutland Regional Medical Center is seeking a phlebotomist to collect blood and other specimens at both the hospital and outpatient draw sites. The role may also support administrative tasks for technical staff while upholding service excellence.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, with phlebotomy training preferred and 6 months related patient care experience. BLS certification must be obtained within 1 month of hire.

Qualifications

• General knowledge in the areas of medical information and laboratory safety is desired.
• Ability to effectively communicate patient information to physicians, office staff, and hospital employees.
• Ability to act as a clinical laboratory information resource to all customer groups.
• Ability to accurately transcribe and verbalize patient data.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• The phlebotomist collects blood and other specimens at the hospital and at outpatient draw sites; may provide administrative support to technical staff per established protocol, while exhibiting service excellence standards of behavior at all times.
• The phlebotomist at outpatient draw sites may register patients and specimens for lab testing, receives outpatients, and enters laboratory information system data.
