The Patient Service Center Phlebotomist works in a Patient Service Center (draw station) located within a Beth Israel Lahey Health - Primary Care practice, a dedicated office suite, or a doctor’s office. Your role involves specimen collection, providing excellent customer service, and representing BILH Laboratories to patients.

Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Perform venipunctures, blood culture collections, and fingersticks, ensuring proper ID/labeling and vein preservation techniques.
  2. Conduct and report bleeding times following standard procedures.
  3. Maintain adequate supply stock and report needs to supervisors.
  4. Transport specimens from collection site to testing site.
  5. Participate in quality assurance, competency assessments, mandatory training, and continuing education programs.
Required Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Preferred registration: ASCP Registered; NCA Certification preferred.
  3. 0-1 years of related work experience.
  4. Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web-based applications.
Competencies:
  • Written Communication: Ability to read and write in English for safety instructions, supervision, and effective communication with patients and staff.
  • Oral Communication: Ability to understand spoken English to follow instructions and respond to routine questions.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of fundamental concepts and procedures; specialized knowledge not required.
  • Teamwork: Ability to interact respectfully with colleagues and external contacts.
  • Customer Service: Ability to deliver high-quality, respectful service, remain calm under stress, and actively listen to patients and visitors.
Physical Demands:

Light work involving exerting up to 20 pounds of force, standing for periods, and moving throughout the hospital campus.
