CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills (CSRH-WH) is a 150-bed hospital serving the fastest growing area of San Antonio. Specialized care includes orthopedic and surgical services, ICU, women’s services, a newborn nursery, comprehensive cardiovascular care from diagnostics to open heart surgery, vascular lab, sleep center, emergency services, the CHRISTUS Weight Loss Institute, wound care, rehabilitation, and more. The campus also boasts an Outpatient Imaging Center and three medical plazas, one of which houses our CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Health Center.

Responsibilities

  2. Ensure that the company philosophy and core values are evident in the service delivered to customers.
  3. Seek and achieve professional growth and continued education.
  4. Ensure quality of work performed by all associates. Coordinate services to customers in a manner that provides customer satisfaction and cost-efficient operations.
  5. Ensure compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, infection control, safety, and other regulatory standards, including privacy and security of health information (PHI).
  6. Maintain collection tray/container/bag and working area in a neat and sanitary condition & restock as necessary.
  7. Procure supplies for the department in cooperation with the team lead.
  8. Perform all duties of a phlebotomist; specimen collection, specimen receiving, specimen send-outs.
  9. Prepare specimens for referral to outside labs, including ordering tests, packaging specimens, calling cabs, referral paperwork, and mailing.
  10. Perform all patient specimen collections, including venipuncture, capillary collection, urine drug screens, skin tests, and cultures.
  11. Ensure specimen requirements are met at collection and maintain specimen integrity.
  12. Communicate effectively with customers, patients, family members, nurses, physicians, clients, and co-workers.
  13. Operate the laboratory computer system for documentation and other tasks.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned (stand-by/on-call, inventory, projects, cross-training).
  15. Complete performance evaluations and competency assessments timely.
Job Requirements
Education/Skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, or Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy preferred.
  • Familiar with medical terminology, data entry, organizational skills.
Experience
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
  • Certification from National Accredited Program Preferred.
