Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Phlebotomist for the Laboratory on the Day shift. You will obtain blood specimens for clinical analysis, distribute specimens promptly, perform waived point‑of‑care testing, and maintain competency.

Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED; 1–2 years of college preferred. Certification is preferred after one year of experience with ASCP/ASPT/NCA/AMT. Experience in phlebotomy or Medical Assistant training is preferred.

General Purpose of Job:

Following established procedures obtains blood specimens for clinical laboratory analysis for the patient population served by UMH-West. Distributes specimens promptly to the laboratory, performs waived point‑of‑care testing and maintains clinical and professional competency.

Education:

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
• 1-2 years of college (pre‑med or pre‑MLS) is preferred.

License / Certification / Registration:

• Certification is preferred, after one year of experience with ASCP, ASPT, NCA, and AMT

Experience:

• Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant training/ experience is preferred.
