Job Summary

This role oversees and coordinates phlebotomy procedures within a healthcare facility. It also serves as a laboratory liaison to patients, nursing staff, and other personnel, ensuring excellence in the quality and safety of blood collection and analysis.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise staff by overseeing and directing their work, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Provide patients with all necessary information about the procedure; ensure their comfort and safety.
  • Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture; ensure specimens are complete and accurate for testing; prepare specimens for processing and complete related paperwork.
  • Mentor personnel learning phlebotomy, including orientation, training, performance evaluations, and coaching for improvement; assist in workflow management to ensure timely and accurate duties.
  • Obtain specimens and labels, then transport to the specified area.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures, including patient information and test results.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of phlebotomy experience required
