Description:

The position requires flexibility to work between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 1-hour lunch break. Additionally, you will rotate one Saturday every 4 weeks from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Hours: 40 hours a week

Department: Outpatient Lab

Minimum rate of pay: $17.04 per hour +

Location: Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to all Clinical Lab Locations: Ann Arbor, Brighton, Canton, Fowlerville, Livonia, Milan, Plymouth, Ypsilanti are required.

This is not a summer-only opportunity - team members must maintain a consistent schedule.

Note: All new team members must complete mandatory full-time training, which is paid and lasts a minimum of 8 weeks, Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Candidates must have open availability for this period.

Position Purpose

Performs phlebotomy, specimen receipt, processing, specimen distribution, computer order entry, requisition completion, and other pre-analytical tasks. Tracks specimens to ensure accurate and timely routing, and submits complete and accurate patient samples, demographics, and diagnosis codes to the laboratory.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of phlebotomy, medical assistant, or patient care technician training.

• Previous phlebotomy experience preferred if formal training and certification as a phlebotomist are not obtained.

What You Will Do:

• Perform successful sample collections including venipuncture, capillary puncture, infant heel sticks, and urine collection, with proper patient identification and customer service skills.
• Understand laboratory requisitions and locate missing or incomplete information.
• Complete specimen handling and processing, including centrifugation and aliquoting.
• Follow up on tasks as needed.
• Maintain supply levels and cleanliness of workstation and section.
