Job summary

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA is hiring a full-time Phlebotomist to collect specimens for Lab testing across inpatients, outpatients, ER, and clinic patients. You will ensure quality specimens and develop LIS skills while complying with Lab regulations.

Duties include lab report routing, filing, and assisting with drug screens and patient registration tasks. The role requires Phlebotomy and Medical Office experience, high school diploma, and possible DOT/EBT certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; DOT drug screen collection certification may be required; EBT certification may be required.
• Phlebotomy and Medical Office experience or training required.

Responsibilities

• Ordering lab tests in LIS
• Performing venipuncture on patients
• Appropriate documentation where required
• Reviewing OP charts
• Verifying medical necessity, calling physicians offices, getting ABNs signed
• Performing drug screens with COC
• Possibly performing EKGs
• Possibly performing Breath Alcohol Testing
• Packaging lab tests for Reference Lab
• Packaging drug screens for Reference Lab
• Use of AIDET and customer service skills
