Job summary

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA is hiring a Phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. This full-time role involves specimen collection for inpatients, outpatients, ER and clinic patients, and requires accuracy, compliance, and compassionate service.

Responsibilities include ordering lab tests in LIS, performing venipuncture, documenting results, coordinating with physicians, and assisting with drug screens and related duties while upholding regulatory standards and patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy experience or training.
• DOT Drug Screen Collections certification may be required.
• EBT certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Ordering lab tests in LIS.
• Performing venipuncture on patients.
• Appropriate documentation where required.
• Reviewing OP charts.
• Verifying medical necessity, calling physicians offices, getting ABN’s signed.
• Performing drug screens with COC.
• Possibly performing EKGs.
• Possibly performing Breath Alcohol Testing.
• Packaging lab tests for Reference Lab.
• Packaging drug screens for Reference Lab.
• Use of AIDET and customer service skills.

IMC is currently hiring aPhlebotomist.This full-time employee is responsible forcollection of specimens for lab testing on inpatients, outpatients, emergencyroom and clinic patients. ThePhlebotomist is responsible for application of learned techniques necessary toobtain quality specimens to aid the techs in reliable results. The Phlebotomist will be responsible fordeveloping computer skills for the Laboratory Information System and complyingwith all regulatory requirements, including Lab Compliance. This positionrequires adept social skills and compassion. Assecretarial relief, this employee is responsible for distributionof lab reports, filing, ordering supplies, handling drug screen accounts andpaperwork, and registering Home Health patients. Additional projects may be delegated as theneed arises.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma, Current certification for DOT Drug Screen Collections may be required, Current certification for EBT may be required.
• Phlebotomy and Medical Office experience or training required.
