The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24/7, they perform more than 19 million tests annually. Besides IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians nationwide.

Position Overview: The Phlebotomist provides general laboratory services, including specimen collection via routine venipuncture, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytical processing of specimens, and related clerical tasks such as entering orders into the system, answering phone calls, and managing faxes. The incumbent may also be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills and be highly compassionate.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program; laboratory experience or coursework in biological, chemical, or related sciences preferred.
  • May require a valid Indiana driver’s license and a good driving record over the past three years.
  • Understanding of Indiana traffic laws may be necessary.
  • Proven computer skills.
  • Telephone communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Participation in relevant committees or projects contributing to the department's goals may be required; details to be added by Consultants.
