The laboratories at IU Health offer extensive services, operating 24/7 and performing over 19 million tests annually. They serve not only IU Health hospitals but also hospitals and physicians nationwide.

The Phlebotomist performs general laboratory services, including specimen collection via venipuncture, order entry, blood component preparation, and specimen processing. Responsibilities also include clerical tasks such as entering orders, answering calls, and managing faxes. The role may involve patient and specimen registration and delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and compassion.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program; laboratory experience or coursework in biological, chemical, or related sciences preferred.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and a good driving record for the past three years may be required.
  • Understanding of Indiana traffic laws may be necessary.
  • Proven computer skills.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
