Job Title: Phlebotomist III - Floater

Duration: 3 months

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia, United States, 22911

Shift: Day Shift. Monday - Friday 7:00am-5:00pm

Summary

The Patient Services Representative III Floater (PSR III) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions.

The PSR III draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.

The PSR III has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.

The PSR III will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.

Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.

Under the direction of the area supervisor, performs daily activities accurately and on time.

Maintains a safe and professional environment.

Performs forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures with confidence.

Verifies patient demographic information, including initials and signature post-venipuncture, to ensure tubes are labeled in the patient's presence and the label matches the patient.

Maintains required records and documentation.

Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

Job Requirements
  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  • Committed to policies and procedures, including dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
  • Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
  • Travel and flexible hours required to work at multiple locations with minimal notice.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Superior customer focus, open and transparent communication, adaptability, and knowledge of our business.
  • Training locations may vary based on availability.
Required Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Preferred: at least 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
