Job summary

Endeavor Health in Glenview, IL is seeking a Phlebotomist II - Per Diem to join our lab team. You will perform routine and special phlebotomy procedures, document specimen handling, and ensure proper collection by patient age group.

Per diem hours include early morning and rotating shifts at Glenbrook Hospital. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, CPR-BLS, phlebotomy training, and strong communication with reliable transportation for site-to-site work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience.
• CPR-BLS certification for Healthcare Provider required from the AHA; ASCP certification preferred.
• Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred.
• Good communication and organization skills; reliable transportation to travel between sites; strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and special phlebotomy procedures as authorized by the supervisor.
• Order tests into Laboratory/Hospital systems and document specimen receipt.
• Collect patient specimens appropriate to age and population served.
• Collect blood samples ensuring adequate volume and correct tubes.

Hourly Pay Range:

$19.31 - $28.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate’s expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Position: Phlebotomist II - Per Diem
• Location: Glenbrook Hospital
• Full Time/Part Time: Per Diem
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 5am-9am, 12:30pm-9pm, rotating weekends and holidays

What you will do:

• Perform a variety of routine and special phlebotomy procedures as authorized by the Supervisor/Manager/Director
• Responsible for ordering tests into the Laboratory and Hospital computer systems and documenting Lab receipt of specimens
• Collect patient specimens in accordance with test requirements and in a manner which is appropriate for the age and/or specific patient population served
• Collect blood samples for specific tests ensuring volume is adequate and correct tubes are utilized

What you will need:

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience
• Certification: CPR-BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider required from the AHA and PBT (ASCP) certification preferred
• Experience: Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Good communication and organization skills, moderate computer skills needed, reliable transportation to travel between sites required, strong customer service skills.
