Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Phlebotomist II for a contract role based out of Jamesburg, NJ. The position performs blood draws, specimen processing, and ensures specimen integrity under OSHA/DEP regulations. Schedule includes varied hours across Mon-Sat.

The role requires phlebotomy certification, 6 months venipuncture experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Onsite work with comprehensive benefits is offered for eligible employees.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification valid for the state of employment.
• At least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
• Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
• Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.
• Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process to patients.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Understand and execute all physician orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts for 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens appropriately for transport.
• Store specimen samples at the required temperature and in the correct container.
• Adhere to specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department training sessions.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as required.
