Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem in Glenview, IL seeks a Phlebotomist II for a full-time position (40 hours/week). Hours may include Monday–Friday 5:00am–1:30pm, with days, evenings, or nights as needed and rotating weekends/holidays.

You will perform routine and special phlebotomy procedures, order tests into Lab and Hospital systems, collect patient specimens, and ensure proper blood draw techniques and specimen handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience.
• CPR-BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider required from the AHA; PBT (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special phlebotomy procedures.
• Order tests into Lab/Hospital systems and document receipt of specimens.
• Collect patient specimens appropriate to age and population served.
• Ensure adequate blood sample volumes and correct tubes are used.

Hourly Pay Range:

$19.31 - $28.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Sign on bonus: (if applicable)
• Position: Phlebotomist II
• Location: Glenbrook, IL
• Full Time: 40 hours/week
• Hours: Monday-Friday -0500am-0130pm (if needed-Days, Evenings, Nights)
• Rotating weekends and holidays

What you will do:

• Perform a variety of routine and special phlebotomy procedures as authorized by the Supervisor/Manager/Director
• Responsible for ordering tests into the Laboratory and Hospital computer systems and documenting Lab receipt of specimens
• Collect patient specimens in accordance with test requirements and in a manner which is appropriate for the age and/or specific patient population served
• Collect blood samples for specific tests ensuring volume is adequate and correct tubes are utilized

What you will need:

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience
• Certification: CPR-BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider required from the AHA and PBT (ASCP) certification preferred
• Experience: Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Good communication and organization skills, moderate computer skills needed, reliable transportation to travel between sites required, strong customer service skills.
