Title: Phlebotomy - Phlebotomist II- 1st Shift

Location: Columbia MD 21046

Duration: 5/19/2025 - 8/1/2025

Shift/Time Zone: 8am-4:30pm, Rotational Saturdays 7:30-11:30am

Job Description:
  1. The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions.
  2. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
  3. The PSR II has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens safely and accurately.
  4. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence and maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
  5. Assignments may include working in a doctor's office, patient service center, or as dictated by business needs.
  6. Under the supervision of the area manager, perform daily activities accurately and timely.
  7. Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  8. Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
  9. Verify patient demographic information, including initials and signatures post-venipuncture, to ensure proper labeling and identification.
  10. Maintain required records and documentation.
  11. Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment to patients, clients, and colleagues.
Job Requirements:
  1. Ability to deliver error-free, quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  3. Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  4. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
  5. Adherence to all policies, including dress code, safety, and excellence principles.
  6. Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
  7. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
  8. Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with short notice.
  9. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  10. Superior customer focus and effective communication skills.
  11. Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical Training:
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • Certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
  • Minimum three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • At least two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Experience in customer service in retail or service environments preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
