Responsibilities

As a Phlebotomist, you will obtain quality blood samples using various methods, including venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections, for all age groups. You will respond rapidly to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes. You will work independently and as part of a team, fostering an inclusive environment, and interacting with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction. Additional duties include accurate patient identification, specimen labeling, handling, transportation, answering phones, and assisting with training new staff.

Qualifications

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional qualifications include:

  • Including a resume in your application.
  • For community lab employees: an early release approval if in current position less than 2 years.
  • For internal applicants: the 3 most recent performance appraisals.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Preferred: Phlebotomy experience and medical field experience.
  • Ability to push a cart and walk distances.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills.
  • Good communication skills, ability to prioritize and manage time, and adaptability.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
License or Certification

To qualify for Phlebotomist II, a valid certification from an approved agency (e.g., ASCP, NHA, ASPT) is required. Certifications from technical colleges are not sufficient. Alternatively, a Medical Assistant (MA), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), or Medical Technologist (MT) certification is acceptable.

Additional Details
  • Position is nonexempt.
  • Pay range for Phlebotomist I: $20.00 - $25.09/hr; for Phlebotomist II: $20.00 - $26.79/hr.
  • Full-time, 64 hours per pay period.
  • Working hours vary from 6:45 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with every 5th weekend shift.
  • Not eligible for visa sponsorship or F-1 STEM OPT extension.
