While experience is preferred, Mayo Clinic provides on-the-job training. As a Phlebotomist, you'll obtain blood samples using various methods, respond to medical emergencies, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care. Additional duties include accurate patient identification, specimen labeling, handling, transportation, and assisting with training new staff.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional qualifications include willingness to travel, computer skills, good communication, customer service skills, and possibly phlebotomy experience.
For Phlebotomist II, valid certification from an approved agency (e.g., ASCP, NHA, ASPT) is required. Other relevant certifications include MA, MLT, or MT.
