Phlebotomist I (Mobile)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Phlebotomist I for a clinical laboratory located in Mobile, AL. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients and providing accurate, compassionate support throughout the lab process. Join a team dedicated to maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and patient care.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform phlebotomy and collect appropriate patient specimens as ordered.
• Verify patient identity, label specimens accurately, and prepare samples for testing or shipment to reference laboratories.
• Process laboratory orders, incoming reports, and daily documentation.
• Maintain accession logs, equipment records, checklists, lab logs, and maintenance records.
• Confirm required authorizations and complete applicable patient consent documentation before collecting limited-coverage tests.
• Maintain adequate supplies and verify that collection materials are viable before use.
• Identify and band patients for blood product transfusions and process specimens according to blood bank procedures.
• Operate designated laboratory equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform waived laboratory testing in accordance with CLIA guidelines and document controls, calibrators, reagents, and lot numbers.
• Follow OSHA requirements, Universal Precautions, regulatory standards, and hazardous-material disposal procedures.
• Keep phlebotomy and laboratory areas clean, organized, and properly stocked.
• Protect the confidentiality of patient and medical staff information.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a phlebotomy program or previous experience in a role with exposure to clinical lab procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, accurate recordkeeping, and a commitment to patient service and safety.
• Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods, carry up to 40 pounds, and perform tasks requiring good visual, hearing, and coordination skills.
• Willingness to work in environments with potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and chemicals.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Pay Rate: $15-$17 per hour
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
• Contract to Hire
