Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Phlebotomist to obtain quality blood samples across age groups using various collection methods. The role involves collaborating with clinicians, handling specimens, and ensuring patient satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

On-the-job training is provided, with opportunities to work independently or in teams. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and may need to travel to other Mayo Clinic sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Must be able to push a cart and walk distances.
• Moderate to advanced computer skills.
• Good written and oral communication; ability to prioritize and adapt to changing volumes.

Responsibilities

• Obtain quality blood samples using venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections as applicable.
• Respond rapidly to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes.
• Interact with patients, nurses, providers and other healthcare professionals to ensure satisfaction.
• Label, handle, and transport specimens with accuracy.
• Answer phones and assist with training of students and new employees.
