Job summary

AdventHealth in Sebring, FL is hiring for a Phlebotomy/Lab Support role. The position involves transporting hazardous waste, assisting with phlebotomy workflow, and ensuring specimens are properly labeled and processed.

You will perform venipuncture and microtainer collection, coordinate daily tasks with leadership, and follow safety policies including PPE and proper chemical handling. Strong organizational skills and reliable teamwork are required for success.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

• Phlebotomy experience preferred; training may be required.
• Familiarity with lab equipment and general office tools.

• Troubleshoots phlebotomy service concerns and coordinates daily workload.

• Ensures specimens are labeled correctly and orders received properly.
• Prioritizes routine specimens; stat and alert specimens take precedence.
• Follows safety policies including PPE, handwashing, and chemical handling.

Job Description

Transports hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area, completing required training for proper handling and transport. May troubleshoot phlebotomy service concerns and coordinate daily workload assignments. Supports leadership with daily workflow and problem resolution. Serves as an example of professional phlebotomy performance. Performs venipuncture and microtainer collection accurately and efficiently. Ensures specimens are correctly labeled and orders are received properly. Prioritizes routine specimen receipt in the laboratory on a “first in – first out” basis, with stat and alert specimens prioritized before routine orders. Follows appropriate safety policies, including the use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling. Other duties as assigned.

• Familiarity with using computers, telephone, fax, copier, printers, and various laboratory equipment including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank and microbiology analyzers, glucometers, incubators, environmental hood, monitored refrigerators and freezers, centrifuges, phlebotomy chairs, and supplies. Required for certain roles.
• Excellent verbal, written, and clerical skills. Required for specific job functions.

Education

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required] Technical/Vocational School [Preferred] Field of Study: Completion of a phlebotomy training program preferred

Work Experience

• Phlebotomy experience [Preferred] Schedule: Temporary - Day Shift

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred] Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) [Preferred]

Pay Range

$15.73 - $25.16
