Powers Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood, urine, and other specimens from inpatients and outpatients under supervision. You will ensure proper aseptic technique, handle specimen delivery, and enter test orders into the LIS system.
Education includes a high school diploma and completion of an accredited phlebotomy program. Certification within 1 year of hire is required, with existing registration preferred.
The Phlebotomist serves as a liaison between the hospital laboratory and the patient by collecting blood specimens, urine and other specimens from both inpatients and outpatients, under general supervision, according to prescribed aseptic technique, for use in clinical and diagnostic laboratory testing. The Phlebotomist is capable of handling problem-solving regarding appropriate specimen collection, handling, delivery of specimens to the main laboratory for analysis, test order and specimen information entry in LIS, and performs incidental clerical, cleaning and supply duties. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor/General Specialist, and Laboratory Site Director.
Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of accredited Phlebotomy certification program. Registered or eligible with NPA/NCA/ASPT/AMT/ASCP. Must pass certification within 1 year of hire. One year of previous experience in phlebotomy preferred. Medical Assistant does not need a phlebotomy certification if part of curriculum. MA certification must be maintained yearly.
