Job description

Our Client, a Clinical Laboratory company, is looking for a Phlebotomist I for their Greenville, SC location.

Responsibilities:

1. The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
2. Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment. Update patient information accurately.
3. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain procedures clearly and courteously to patients for venipuncture and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal).
4. Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Understand all physician orders and match requisitions to specimen tubes.
5. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required. Ensure test requisitions match labels and scripts accurately.
6. Store specimens at correct temperatures, use appropriate containers, and maintain specimen integrity during transport.
7. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual training sessions.
8. Answer calls and communicate laboratory results effectively.

Requirements:

1. 1-2 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
2. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
3. High School Diploma or GED.
4. Experience working with pediatric and geriatric patients.
