Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking a Phlebotomist I at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL. This role offers Full Time hours with various shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities include performing routine and special phlebotomy procedures, ordering tests in hospital systems, and ensuring proper specimen collection and labeling. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED; CPR-BLS is required, ASCP preferred, and phlebotomy training is strongly

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CPR-BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required; ASCP certification preferred.
  • Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred.
  • Good communication and organization skills; basic computer skills; reliable transportation to travel between sites; strong customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and special phlebotomy procedures as authorized by supervisor/manager/director.
  • Order tests into Laboratory and Hospital computer systems and document receipt of specimens.
  • Collect patient specimens per test requirements appropriate for age/population served.
  • Collect blood samples ensuring adequate volume and correct tubes are used.

Hourly Pay Range

$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights
  • Position: Phlebotomist I
  • Location: Glenbrook Hospital
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 5am-1:30pm, 7am-3:30pm, e/o weekend and rotating holidays
What you will do
  • Perform a variety of routine and special phlebotomy procedures as authorized by the Supervisor/Manager/Director
  • Responsible for ordering tests into the Laboratory and Hospital computer systems and documenting Lab receipt of specimens
  • Collect patient specimens in accordance with test requirements and in a manner which is appropriate for the age and/or specific patient population served
  • Collect blood samples for specific tests ensuring volume is adequate and correct tubes are utilized
What you will need
  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred required
  • Certification: CPR-BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider required by the AHA and PBT (ASCP) certification preferred
  • Experience: Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred
  • Unique or Preferred Skills: Good communication and organization skills, moderate computer skills needed, reliable transportation to travel between sites required, strong customer service skills.
