Job Summary

The Phlebotomist I performs daily phlebotomy activities at the Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-office Phlebotomy (IOP), accurately and on time. The role involves interacting professionally with clients, patients, and staff, performing specimen collection and processing duties according to established procedures.

Essential Functions

• Greet customers courteously and treat all clients with respect.
• Ensure all specimens are collected accurately and timely.
• Explain procedures clearly to reduce patient anxiety and perform specimen collection following protocols.
• Properly dispose of biohazardous materials and contaminated sharps according to laws and policies.
• Complete requisitions accurately and enter data into the computer system, verifying information.
• Match requisition forms with specimens, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Package and transport specimens following protocols to maintain integrity.
• Maintain accurate records and logs, assist with data compilation, and perform basic clerical duties.
• Adhere to dress code, utilize PPE, and follow safety and confidentiality policies.
• Communicate effectively with team members and clients, and contribute positively to the work environment.
